Billie Eilish’s debut studio album is setting streaming services alight following its release on Friday (March 29).

For those wondering how Eilish achieved such an intimate sound on the record, the below video with her brother, Finneas O’Connell, may provide some answers.

Part of the SPACES video series from AWAL, it shows where Billie and Finneas grew up – a two-bedroom house in Los Angeles, where their parents sleep on a futon downstairs.

Within that house is the duo’s home studio, where Eilish laid down the majority of vocals on When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, an album which O’Connell co-wrote and produced.

“There’s a crazy intimacy to what we’re doing,” says O’Connell. “There’s such a private feeling… because we’re not at a recording studio where different people are there every day.

“It’s our house and it’s where we live – it’s where we’ve experienced everything. That allows us to make [music] that is wholeheartedly exposed as far as who we really are as people, as siblings and as children of our parents.

“It’s really honest.”

O’Connell is signed to Kobalt for publishing admin, whereas Eilish is signed to Universal Music Publishing Group.
